Last night the Superior, Wisconsin city council voted down a proposed ban on toys in most kids’ fast food meals.
As discussed here on TLT a while back, such a ban was successful in San Francisco, but it apparently drew little support in Superior. Coverage of the vote indicates that all but one person speaking in favor of the ban was actually from out of state.

Speaking as someone from northern Illinois –we are talking Wisconsin here. With the exception of Madison and Milwaukee, there isn’t any support for progressive ideas in Wisconsin. Illinois is the same way –remove Chicago, and there isn’t a progressive in the state!

I agree with Renee. Superior is about as far north as you can get in Wisconsin. Cold too. Not a shocker to me in anyway.

Maybe it’s a shocker, then, that it even came to a vote?

I solved this “problem” the old-fashioned way when my children were small. If they wanted McDonalds and I felt that they had enough fast food recently, then I simply looked them in the eye and politely told them “no”. You see, you goofy progressives, you *are* in charge of your household and your children. Grow up!

Mark – it’s a totally valid viewpoint that this is not an appropriate area for governmental regulation. I confess that on this particular issue, I can be easily swayed by both sides – it’s not at all clear cut for me. But in case you come back to The Lunch Tray and comment — and I hope you do — please remember that we try to keep it friendly, even when we disagree. – Bettina
