Eater.com, among other media outlets, reports that Jamie Oliver’s “Food Revolution” has been pulled from ABC’s current schedule due to less-than-stellar ratings. The series is set to resume after the May sweeps, on June 3rd, but it will be moved from Tuesday nights to a less desirable Friday night slot.
For viewers who missed the first two episodes, they will be re-broadcast, back-to-back, on Friday, May 27 at 8pm EST.

My $0.02, the LAUSD made the right call not giving Jamie a platform, without the extra dramatic tension his stunts looked more like stunts and the ratings flagged. So called “reality” TV depends on being able to create villains and the absence makes the show “flat”.

June is too late for school food. Anyone who has kids in school knows that by the middle of May all that anyone thinks about and cares about is SUMMER! By the way, summer camp food is also for the most part, lousy.
Jamie and his people would be smart to hire consultants who have walked this path in the US. There are many ways to make the issue of school food interesting and inspiring.

You’re probably right, SuRu. Fall would have made much more sense.

Personally, I’m sorry to see it is getting such low ratings. I think part of it is that “real life” has shown everyone how the story ends (e.g., the Jimmy Kimmel spot referenced by this blog). But I’ve been looking forward to seeing more of this season because Jamie O. is such a good example of how passion and persistence can pay off. Just from the first two episodes, you see that he has dealt with such a huge obstacle (not being allowed in any LA school) very effectively and with heart. Based on last season, his approach is to build good will and assemble a group of people who want to make a difference.
There is a lot we can learn about life and business from Jamie Oliver. I’d put him up against Donald Trump any day. 🙂
