Mendy: Wow. I've just read your story over at The Slow Cook and on Fed Up With Lunch and would like to do a post about you here as well. It will most likely appear the week after next. I wish I knew of sites devoted to teachers on this issue - perhaps you yourself might start one? I imagine there are many other teachers out there like yourself who are concerned about what's served in the cafeteria. I hope you'll visit The Lunch Tray often and share your perspective. - Bettina

This is a great blog, Bettina. I will be looking forward to the buffet on Fridays!
Do you know of any websites that can help teachers? I know there must be many teachers who want to speak out against what is going on in their school cafeterias, but are afraid (exactly why Mrs. Q. intelligently remains anonymous). I decided to take a stand and now I'm suffering for it. I got an unsatisfactory rating in "professionalism" on my teaching evaluation this year - first time in 12 years! It seems like everything I try to do (teach nutrition, organize parents, talk to kids about what they are eating, etc.) is viewed as unprofessional???
I can live with an unsatisfactory in professionalism because I know I'm doing the right thing and I don't want to give up, but what's teacher to do?
