Last night, two stories aired on local
CBS* affiliates regarding the USDA’s recent decision to allow chicken processing in China. The first, from KVUE in Austin, Texas, is here:
And the second, from Houston’s KHOU, is here:
I’d like to thank both reporters, Terri Gruca and Jeremy Desel, respectively, for helping to shine a spotlight on this important food safety issue.
Meanwhile, our Change.org petition regarding chicken processed and/or slaughtered in China topped 300,000 signatures this weekend, which is truly extraordinary. Now I and my co-petitioners, Nancy Huehnergarth and Barbara Kowalcyk, are planning our next steps, which may include taking a trip to D.C. in the coming weeks.
I’ll keep you posted here, and thanks again to all who’ve signed and shared the petition!
[Correction and Update 2/16/14: KVUE is the ABC affiliate in Austin; KHOU is the CBS affiliate in Houston. Since posting, these news reports have also aired in San Antonio and Dallas.]
