One Thousand Published Posts = Time For a Vacation!

by Bettina Elias Siegel on November 28, 2012

A belated “welcome back” from Thanksgiving break, TLT’ers!  I hope you had a restful and delicious holiday.

My Turkey Day was, well, less than ideal.  I woke up on Thanksgiving morning with “positional” vertigo, a totally benign condition that hits me every few months, but of course the timing couldn’t have been worse.  I can alleviate the dizziness with certain prescribed head movements but first I have to take an anti-nausea medication that makes me incredibly sleepy.  I forged ahead with the cooking (though there was one particularly dicey moment when I was drowsily applying a chef’s knife to a rock-hard kabocha squash!) but I certainly wasn’t at my best.

It’s taken me a few days to recover fully — hence the no-posting — and that’s when it occurred to me that I might generally be overdue for a blogging vacation.  Though I truly love writing The Lunch Tray, it does take effort and commitment to post here five days a week, every week, with content that (I hope) engages and informs.  After over two and a half years of writing TLT virtually nonstop — almost 1,000 published posts! — I’m thinking it might be time to regroup and recharge.

So for the next several weeks I’ll continue to post on The Lunch Tray but only when the mood hits me or when I come across something particularly important to share with you.  I’ll still post on a daily basis items of interest on TLT’s Facebook page, and if you want to make sure those entries appear in your news feed, please take a second to hover over the “Liked” button on the page and click “Show in News Feed” and/or “Add to Interest Lists:”

That way we can continue to stay in touch and you’ll also know when new posts appear here on the blog.  I’ll also continue to tweet regularly at @thelunchtray.

This also seems like a good time to express my gratitude to the thousands of Lunch Tray readers and TLT’s Twitter followers and Facebook fans.  I still can’t quite believe so many people have found their way here and I regard your participation in this community as a true honor, one I hope I live up to each time I share a post.

Thank you for your continued support!

Congratulations on 1000 posts my dear! That is tenacity at it’s best!
You have had some fun times and some not so fun times doing it and I am glad to know that you will continue.
Now take that long deserved break!
(And thank God you still have those fingers after said Kabocha!!)
Happiest of Holidays!

Thank you! (And I didn’t mean to mislead – I’m not yet at 1,000 but well into the 900s – still a crazy figure, right?) Happy holidays to you, too!

The Blogger might not felt her best on Thanksgiving morning, but she produced a world-class meal. Wonderful idea to take some time off, and write when the spirit moves you.

Lunch Tray fan, Thanksgiving guest, and loving Mom.
