Spork Report: “Nudging” Kids To Choose Fruits & Veggies in the Lunch Room

by Bettina Elias Siegel on February 21, 2012

On today’s Spork Report, you can read about a simple, virtually no-cost pilot study going on in my district (Houston ISD) to gently encourage kids to take more fruits and vegetables in the cafeteria.

The study reminds me of the work of Dr. Brian Wansink at the Cornell Food and Brand Lab who specializes in small manipulations to the eating environment which can have been changes on behavior.   If you missed it the first time around, my amusing interview with Dr. Wansink is here.

Bettina- you were referenced in the SNA daily newsletter this morning. Thought you’d want to know the connection in case you aren’t an SNA member.
All the best!
Sophie
